Remote Landscapes
Paintings of this theme have been inspired by Turner. As I try to utilize similar palettes and looseness, a heavy, dark and serene mood seems to be evoked which I now try to emphasize where I can. As a Geologist and outdoor centered person, I have spent a lot of time working and traveling in remote locations throughout the world and always try to capture the images and moods of those locations. While working, the paintings trend towards melancholy, so I try to add a little brightness and positiveness to them as well. Ken Browne, an Irish painter, has been a great inspiration for these paintings.
